The American surprise ... what did people do after the decision to take off the masks?

The scene seemed completely strange and unexpected, a day after the resounding announcement of the US Health Agency to reduce measures to limit the spread of the Corona virus related to wearing masks, and to exempt vaccinated people from using them.

And the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced, Thursday, that fully vaccinated people can give up wearing the muzzle in open spaces, and President Joe Biden welcomed the decision and considered it a "great day" for the country most affected by the virus.  .

But despite the long-awaited announcement, and after nearly a year of observing the mask, many people still roam around Washington, DC, wearing masks.

They include student Chloe, who said she had received two doses of the vaccine, but was anyway wearing her black mask.

Chloe said: “I think the announcement ... was shocking to a lot of people.  It was definitely shocking for me, ”according to what was reported by Agence France-Presse.

Chloe, 20, considers the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announcement "optimistic," but has made it clear that she intends to continue using her mask "for a longer period".

She added, “If I see more people giving up their masks, I will feel comfortable to stop using them… just seeing the numbers of immunized people in the United States will definitely help me.  If the number goes up, I will feel relaxed.  You may feel comfortable taking it off, ”but she continued,“ It is very important to realize that the epidemic continues to spread. ”

Currently, only 36 percent of the population is fully vaccinated in the United States, where the pandemic has killed more than 580,000 people.
