4 : Michael Collins, the NASA astronaut who was the command module pilot for the Apollo 11 mission to the moon, has died at age 90 after battling cancer.

 On Wednesday, the American astronaut michael collins (90 years), the first to fly the surface of the moon, died.  The Collins News Agency reported in a statement he died of cancer.  Collins, often described as the "forgotten" third astronaut on the occasional page, was left alone for more than 21 hours until his colleagues in the lunar module returned.  !  It was time to shoot in the field after filming.  And the mission record reads: "No one since Adam has known this loneliness like Mikael Collins." Collins described his experience in his 1974 autobiography, but he largely avoided the limelight. 

"Michael was a diligent space promoter."  Exploration is not an option, really, it is inevitable, ”he said. He added, very thoughtful to his experience in orbit,“ What is worth recording is what kind of civilization we Earthlings created and whether or not we have ventured out into other parts of the galaxy or not. ”It was Collins.  Very vocal about the technical challenges the crew faced, saying that their lives depend on a long "daisy chain" of events that must all work perfectly for the astronauts to be able to return to Earth alive.

"Today the nation has lost a true pioneer and lifelong advocate of exploration in astronaut Michael Collins," said Acting NASA Administrator Steve Gorshik.  “As a pilot of the Apollo 11 command unit, some have described him as“ the most lonely man in history, ”he helped our nation achieve a very important milestone. He also distinguished himself in the Gemini program and as a pilot in the Air Force.
